What comes to your mind, when you think about your ‘Boss’? He/she may be stubborn, adamant, partial, and just wants to be heard first.
Don’t worry, we’re not friends with your boss. In fact, most of us feel the same way when we think about our bosses.
However, every one of us wants to a boss one day. Everyone wants to manage a team. Then what? Well, you can be a leader rather than being a boss. Here are few tips that can help you become an able leader and create a great impact on your co-workers.
Listen More
Want to be heard? Start listening first. A leader lends his/her ears to all his teammates. Take their suggestions and ideas, discuss all the possibilities, and then make a decision unanimously. It will give all an equal chance and let you have a variety of ideas too. Remember, more the viewpoints, less the loopholes.
Appreciate Others
Stop taking undue credits. Start acknowledging others for their contributions. Appreciations encourage people to deliver even better. If you appreciate your colleagues for their performance, it will motivate them to work more and you will feel good too. You will also develop a healthier work relation.
Participate, Become a Part
Bosses are expected to give orders and then step back. Leaders set goals and work with the team to achieve them. Keep a track of the progress and contribute wherever required. Remember you and your team have common goals and you share the responsibility to achieve them.
Interact More, Share Knowledge
All your team members come from different backgrounds. All have their own experiences. Friendly interactions can widen your knowledge, which is good for your personal growth as well as that of the organization. Never stop learning and never assume that you know everything.
Show your Passion
Love what you are doing. Express your enthusiasm, this will encourage others to love and devote more in their respective works. Exercise your passion in a positive way and not by shouting or forcing anything on your team members. Your employees should not work for the sake of it but work wholeheartedly.
Think Equal, Treat Equal
A good leader sees everyone as equals. He/she do not have any favourites or non-favourites. Only good job is favourite to a leader. If a leader starts discriminating among the team members, then the team fails to gain the strength of unity. A leader is always unbiased and fair while taking decisions.
Leaders earn respect from all his teammates by respecting them in the way they deserve to be. A give and take relation should be maintained among all the team members and not a one-way relation. Bossy personalities don’t go long way, whereas leaders don’t stop moving ahead. You should always have a progressive vision and consider all your colleagues in the picture.
